Common questions
What is Mangal Dosha (Manglik)?
In Vedic astrology, when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from your Lagna (ascendant), it's called Mangal Dosha — commonly known as "being Manglik." Classical texts associate this placement with friction, delays, or intensity in marriage. The 7th and 8th house placements are considered the strongest; 2nd and 4th are mildest.
Does this calculation use Vedic (sidereal) zodiac?
Yes. We use the Lahiri ayanamsha, which is the sidereal zodiac standard accepted by the Government of India and the Indian Ephemeris. Western tropical results will differ.
What if I don't know my birth time?
Tick the "I don't know" box and we'll use 12:00 noon. The Mars sign will likely still be correct, but the Mars HOUSE depends on Lagna — which depends on the time. Without an accurate time, the manglik check is approximate. For a confident answer, dig out your birth certificate or ask family.
If I'm Manglik, am I doomed in marriage?
No. Classical texts also list many cancellations: Mars in own sign, Mars-Mars match between partners, both partners Manglik (cancels out), Mars aspected by Jupiter, and several others. A real chart reading looks at all of these together — not just the bare house position.
Is this a substitute for a proper consultation?
No. This calculator answers ONE specific question (where is your Mars). A full consultation looks at how Mars interacts with other planets, your dasha period, your partner's chart, and the practical reality of your life. If marriage is on your mind, a 20-minute consultation is worth the ₹199 ₹49.
