Common questions

What is Sade Sati exactly?

Sade Sati is the period when Saturn (Shani) transits the 12th, 1st, and 2nd signs from your natal Moon — three signs total, ~2.5 years each, totaling roughly 7.5 years. Classical texts associate it with restructuring, delays, and inner work. Each phase has a different texture: anticipation in the first, identity-level pressure in the peak, integration in the final.

How accurate is this calculator without my exact birth time?

Sade Sati uses your MOON sign (Janma Rashi), not your Lagna. Moon's position changes about 13° per day, so without an exact birth time we use 12:00 noon and the moon sign is usually correct unless you were born close to a sign boundary. The phase determination should be accurate either way; the precise start/end dates depend on Saturn's transit, which is independent of your birth time.

Does this use Vedic (sidereal) zodiac?

Yes. We use the Lahiri ayanamsha — the sidereal zodiac standard accepted by the Government of India and the Indian Ephemeris. Western tropical results will differ.

Is Sade Sati always bad?

No. Classical texts describe Sade Sati as Saturn's deep-teaching period — uncomfortable, but the source of most maturity-shifts in life. Many famous careers are built during Sade Sati. The texture depends on which house Saturn rules in your chart, your current dasha, and Jupiter's position. A blanket "bad" reading misses the whole point.

What if I'm not in Sade Sati right now?

Then either it ended already (the next one comes ~22 years later when Saturn returns to your moon-axis) or it's still ahead. The calculator shows your moon sign so you can compute it manually: Sade Sati starts when Saturn enters the sign BEFORE your moon. We can show you exact past/future dates in a full consultation.
